On Sunday, April 21st, the Japan Club at Sacramento State hosts the 6th Japan Culture Night to both celebrate and build awareness of Japanese culture. Our theme of this year is "matsuri (festival)" and the events include Sacramento Taiko Dan performance, Japanese traditional and modern song and dance performances, fashion show and cosplay contest, information and hands-on booth on ‘matsuri.’ The place and time: University Union, Ballroom I & II. 2pm – 5:30pm (stage performances will start at 3:00pm).

We will also promote "Keep Smiling Project 38" (http://www.keepsmilingproject38.com), which seeks to provide compassion, happiness, and support to children and families of Japan who are suffering hardship as a result of the earthquakes and tsunami.  Since 2011, Sacramento State students have donated 140 smiles with their messages in Japanese. Since this year’s One World Initiative at Sacramento State is “Global Perspectives on Water” (http://www.csus.edu/oneworld), we continue to help this project and plan to donate more smiles to this cause. Anyone is welcome to donate his or her "smile" with a brief message in Japanese/English. Sacramento State students are ready to assist anyone who would want to write a message in Japanese.
