Guest saxophonist John Sampen will perform, along with Mark Bunce, composer/electronics. Entitled "In Two Worlds: Exploring the duality of music and society", this one-hour multi-media experience features projected visuals, interactive electronics, live saxophone performance and theatrical activities. As one of America's leading concert saxophonists, John Sampen is particularly recognized as a distinguished artist in contemporary literature. He has commissioned over eighty new works, including compositions by Babbitt, Bolcom, Cage, Rands, and Rzewski and has premiered saxophone versions of music by Lutoslawski, Stockhausen, and Tower. As recipient of NEA and Meet the Composer grants, John Sampen has been involved with commissions and premieres of new music by Albright, Babbitt, Martino and Subotnick. He holds degrees from Northwestern University and is on the faculty of Bowling Green State University.
