Zoot Suit, written by
Luis Valdez, weaves fact and fiction into a musical involving the real-life events
of the Sleepy Lagoon murder trial when a group of young Mexican-Americans were
wrongfully charged with murder in 1940’s Los Angeles. This Tony Award-winning
Broadway production of Zoot Suit debuted in 1979 and was the first Latino play
on Broadway.
