Leaders in Education Speaker Series: Dr. Michael Dumas
“Against the Dark: Recognizing and Responding to Antiblackness in Education"

Nov. 30, 2018
5:30-6:30pm
Hinde Auditorium

Dumas, an Assistant Professor in UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education and Department of African American Studies, contends that schooling and our very imagination of education are sites of antiblackness – or sites of Black suffering. He argues that although there is no Black freedom to be found in schools, which are inherently and deeply anti-Black, schools can be spaces of Black fugitivity.
