"Opera In Disguise" features two bright comedies by composers gifted with an incredible sense of melody.
First, Pierre Petit’s Le Jeu de l’Amour et du Hasard (The Game of Love and Chance) follows an engaged couple who have never met.  When her fiancé comes to meet her, Silvia disguises herself as the maid.  She proceeds to question his valet in attempts to know more about her mysterious future husband.  Little does she know, her betrothed as taken on a disguise of his own.

In Donizetti’s Il Campanello (The Night Bell), the master of bel canto known for his delightful scores sets another brilliant libretto. Don Annibale, a rich and illustrious doctor, has just finished celebrating his bright and cheerful wedding and is ready to honeymoon with his gorgeous young bride when the night bell rings. Being required by law to answer, Annibale obeys and meets a series of patients with increasing demands. The patients, are all actually one man; Enrico, the new Mrs. Annibale’s former lover, whose incredibly complex medical requirements infuriate Annibale as they delay his honeymoon even further.  With Enrico’s hilarious scheming, it’s doubtful Annibale will get a good catch a wink, let alone a honeymoon.
